letters! we get letters!

well, not so far. but the lloyd-tones (and the infamous Hipdeep Records) now have a P.O. Box. So if you’re so moved, feel free to drop us a good old fashioned paper mail letter thingy at:

the lloyd-tones
po box 9543
austin, tx 78766

or, if you insist on being all digital, you can always reach us at contact (at) lloydtones (dot) com. please pardon the lame attempt at obfuscating the address. I’d like this one to remain safe from wild spambots harvesting it and the subsequent inundation by viagra offers and nigerian email scams.

still listening

it’s a very strange thing, to listen to your own music this much. eventually it stops being “you” and just starts being something you (hopefully) enjoy listening to. that happened mid-song on the drive to work last week. there’s definitely some slight remixing to do before we can dive into mastering, but we’re oh-so-close! stay tuned, amigos.

listening continues…

listening to the final (or nearly so) mixes of the EP continues. so far we’re sounding good on a wide variety of systems. this is no small miracle.

you can preview the entire EP yourself here. Once we’re completely happy with the final, pre-mastering mixes we’ll post ‘em up all over the net. But for now, virb is the winner of the secret prerelease lottery.

so you’re asking yourself…

did it happen? did the ‘tones finish the writing and recording portion of the infamous and long-awaited EP? well, sir or madam, the answer would seem to be “yes. yes they did.”

there’s a bit of mixing work left on “space queen” (stupid art rock), and “turtle & moth” might need a touch-up, but in short order the final mixing can begin. stay tuned for more information.

the lloyd-tones online

in case you’re looking for a place to listen to the lloyd-tones online, here’s a nice list of places to find us:

all of these, of course, are secondary to the mighty official website (lloyd-tones.com, natch) in information. but most of them have easier ways to listen to the tunes. so there.

progress!

“back to the sea” is complete. the final version of “space queen’s lament” is nigh. and, dare I say it, we’re days away from a lock on “turtle & moth.” such occurrences would indicate that the main recording and rough mixing of the ep are complete. with that done, we’d just have a final mix and some mastering to do before we could actually, truly release the damned thing.

fingers crossed, kids! 2009 may be the year after all!
